Previously, the storm and low pressure forecast for December 2 by the Philippine weather agency PAGASA stated that during the week from December 2 to December 8, a low pressure is forecast to form in the East Sea, within PAGASA's PMD forecast area.
A new low pressure system has formed in the western part of the PMD. This low pressure system in the East Sea is considered by Philippine weather experts to have little chance of strengthening into a tropical storm.
PAGASA forecasts that during the week of December 9 to December 15, a low pressure area will appear near the East Sea, within the PMD forecast area. This low pressure system near the East Sea is expected to strengthen into a low to moderate storm during the forecast period, according to typhoon forecasters in the Philippines.
In the December storm forecast released on December 1, PAGASA said that it is expected that 1 to 2 tropical storms may enter PAR this month.
PAGASA typhoon forecaster Ana Clauren-Jorda warned the public to prepare for the possibility of a typhoon hitting the Philippines during the holiday season.
"One to two storms are forecast to enter the forecast area of the Philippines. These storms have a high probability of making landfall or affecting the mainland," she noted.
