While on a vacation in Bruny Island, Tasmania (Australia) with friends, Mr. Kim Valentine accidentally discovered a honey-brown Volkswagen Beetle lying on the grass, after leaving the parking lot of a restaurant.
"I saw it under the apple tree. It's surprising that it's my family's old car, nearly 50 years since I bought it," he shared and said he would never forget his license plate despite selling the car decades ago, ABC News reported on September 12.
Although the appearance is old, Mr. Valentine is extremely happy to "reunite" with the car and said it is associated with many memories. Valued at $2,000, he bought it in 1973 after getting married and owning it for about 5 years.
"My wife and I often put our child in the cradle, in the back seat of the car, that position was very suitable," he recalled and said he had told his son about the rare situation that had just occurred. Chris - the child in the cradle that day - is now 48 years old. Their family only sells cars when they have increased their membership and need a bigger car.
"Since then, I have observed many cars like it and often pay attention to the license plate to see if it is an old car of the family or not. I often wonder what happened to that honey-brown "hammock". Today, I have the answer, Mr. Valentine shared on ABC Radio Hobart.
Mr. Valentine shared the story on Facebook and a friend of his sent him a photo taken from the "golden age" of the car. Although he has no intention of buying the car back from the current owner, the unexpected meeting with it has brought him and his family back many precious memories.
