Update on Vietnam-US trade talks on countervailing taxes at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam on the afternoon of May 15, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said: "Vietnam has been proactive and active in promoting balanced and sustainable investment and trade cooperation with the US in the spirit of efficiency, frankness, construction, equality, mutual respect and bringing benefits to both sides".

Ms. Pham Thu Hang added that negotiations between Vietnam and the US on the US counterpart tax policy on Vietnamese exports are being implemented, and specific information about the negotiations will be provided later.

VNA reported on June 6 that in the past, Vietnam has been very active and willing to send representatives to the US and has had many forms of working with the US side to develop balanced and sustainable trade; solve problems of concern to the US; increase imports of goods from the US such as LNG, airplanes, medicine, medical supplies, agricultural products... to ensure sustainable trade balance; handle issues related to the origin of goods, non-tariffs, intellectual property, copyright, and reduce administrative procedures.

Up to this point, the US side has issued a specific negotiation schedule, showing goodwill, according to commitments in high-level contacts and subsequent meetings and contacts between the two sides.
