A photo of floodwaters flooding into a nursing home widely shared on social media Twitter shows at least 6 old women and a cat trapped in a room.
Timothy McIntosh - the son-in-law of Trudy Lampson, the director of the nursing home - received the photo at around 8am on August 27.
Kim and Timothy McIntosh decided to post a photo on their Twitter and call for help from the rescue team. The couple told Time: "We thought the situation was really disastrous."
"I need urgent help from the rescue team, please share," Timothy McIntosh posted on social media. His first Tweet received more than 2,400 likes and helped the local rescue team quickly grasp the situation in the nursing home.
On the same afternoon, rescue forces rescued 18 people, including 15 elderly people at La Vita Bella nursing home, emergency management coordinator at Dickinson David Popoff told Galveston County Daily News.
Rescue forces rescued and updated information every 30 minutes to the McIntosh family. "We are very lucky and grateful for all the sharing and communication from the media and especially the quick rescue from the rescue team in Galveston as well as the police force," said Kim and Timothy McIntosh.
