Main seaports blocked, Ukraine loses more than 1 billion USD

Ukraine's main trading ports are still stagnant, causing maritime transport and export activities of this country to face many difficulties.

According to TASS estimates, Ukraine has lost about 1.05 billion USD in foreign currency revenue due to the country's seaports being blockaded since July 22.

Ukraine's main trading ports, including Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny, are still in a state of stagnation. Sea transport schedules show that many large foreign cargo ships do not dock at these ports.

Currently, Ukraine only maintains maritime trade through Izmail port. However, logistics capacity here is limited by the port's operating capacity and the railway network serving freight transport.

Even when operating at full capacity, Izmail port can only handle a maximum of about 20 million tons of cargo per year, while the capacity in normal conditions reaches about 13 million tons.

Notably, the Odesa port cluster has a total capacity of more than 40 million tons of goods per year.

According to calculations, Ukraine is suffering losses of about 70 million USD per day, mainly due to a sharp decrease in exports of agricultural products and steel.

Data on ship operations currently does not include shipments of military goods to the Ukrainian armed forces. The Russian Ministry of Defense regularly reports on attacks targeting dry cargo ships at Nikolayev port, accusing these ships of being used to support Ukrainian forces.
