After more than 10 years of waiting, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital Ninh Binh facility will officially welcome the first patients from July 9, 2026, one day earlier than the initial plan. This is an important milestone in the process of expanding the hospital's high-quality medical examination and treatment network, bringing specialized surgical techniques closer to people in the Northern Delta region.
According to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, the adjustment of the opening schedule is to help people access medical examination and treatment services sooner. When put into operation, Ninh Binh facility will serve people in the province, neighboring localities such as Hung Yen and many provinces in the Northern Delta region, contributing to reducing pressure on central hospitals.
Invested with a scale of 1,000 beds, the new facility is oriented to become a high-tech surgical center of the region. In the initial phase, the hospital will receive patients with about 300 beds, ensuring the principle of absolute safety operation, and prioritizing the deployment of specialties with high demand such as emergency, orthopedic trauma, spine, digestive surgery and some other surgical specialties.
Putting these specialties into operation will help people access specialized surgical techniques right in their localities, limit having to transfer to Hanoi, thereby reducing waiting times, travel costs and creating convenience in the treatment process.
To date, the hospital has completed preparations for personnel, equipment and operating plans. About 400 doctors will be rotated to work at the new facility, while the final legal procedures are being completed.
According to the roadmap, after operating the first phase with about 300 beds, the hospital will continue to expand according to actual needs, towards exploiting the entire scale of 1,000 beds, gradually becoming a high-tech surgical center of the region, and sharing the burden with the main facility in Hanoi.
Previously, on June 26, 2026, Bach Mai Hospital, Ninh Binh facility, officially went into operation, marking the starting point in the formation of a central-level hospital cluster in the locality.
