Vietnam rescue team has arrived in Myanmar to support after the earthquake

Vietnam's rescue team will deploy rescue missions in areas affected by earthquakes in Myanmar from tomorrow (March 31).

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on the afternoon of March 30, the rescue team of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, consisting of 106 people, led by Major General Pham Van Ty - Deputy Director of the Rescue Department of the Ministry of National Defense and Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong - Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Department, Ministry of Public Security, and the relief goods landed at Yangon airport, Myanmar.

At the airport to welcome the delegation to Myanmar were Mr. U Soe Thein - Prime Minister of the Yangon region, Vietnamese Ambassador to Myanmar Ly Quoc Tuan, Colonel Dao Van Duy - Defense attache, and all staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar.

To help Myanmar overcome the consequences of the earthquake, Vietnam has decided to provide emergency relief supplies at Myanmar's request, providing a grant of 300,000 USD to help Myanmar overcome the consequences of the earthquake.

From tomorrow (March 31), the Vietnamese rescue team will deploy rescue missions in areas affected by earthquakes. Relief goods will also be delivered to people in the affected areas.

These are the efforts of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to support Myanmar, an ASEAN member in overcoming and mitigating the consequences of natural disasters, demonstrating the tradition of "love others as you love yourself", the spirit of international responsibility and humanitarian gestures of Vietnam, while affirming the prestige and capacity of the Vietnamese rescue and relief forces in participating in international activities.

Previously, on March 28, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and the Vietnam - Myanmar Friendship Association also sent a telegram to the people of Myanmar.
