The latest storm and low pressure information from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that at 3:00 a.m. on May 4, the low pressure near the East Sea caused cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms in Visayas, Mimaropa, Bicol and southern Calabarzon, especially Batangas and Quezon.
The new low pressure is currently about 310 km from the city of Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines or about 55 km south-southeast of Cuyo, Palawan, Philippines.
According to Philippine typhoon forecasters, the low pressure near the East Sea is within the Philippine Forecast Area (PAR) and is unlikely to strengthen into a typhoon within the next 24 hours.
In the weather forecast on May 4, PAGASA warned of the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rain due to the influence of low pressure.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered showers or thunderstorms due to easterly winds.
PAGASA also forecasts that 17 areas in the Philippines will record hot weather, with temperatures ranging from dangerously high from 42 degrees Celsius to 44 degrees Celsius.
The temperature index is forecast to peak at 44 degrees Celsius in Aparri and Tuguegarao city in Cagayan; ISU Echague, Isabela; and Sangley Point, Cavite.
PAGASA weather experts warn that prolonged exposure to dangerous temperatures from 42 degrees Celsius to 51 degrees Celsius can increase risks to the human body such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
