The latest typhoon information from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on January 1 said that there is a forecast of 0 to 1 typhoon appearing within or around the Philippine Forecast Area (PAR) in March.
PAGASA's Grace Castaneda forecaster said: "This March, there is no chance of or even the possibility of a tropical storm entering or forming in the Philippines' forecast area."
She said that according to PAGASA's monthly weather forecast, the March typhoon near the Philippines may enter the Visayas - Mindanao region, heading towards Palawan. Or it is likely that this storm will circle out to sea, not affecting the Philippine mainland.
If it forms and enters the Philippine PAR forecast area, the March storm will be locally named Auring - the first name on the Philippine list of typhoon names in 2025.
As of March 1, PAGASA has not been monitoring any storms or tropical depressions in the forecast area.
Previously, on February 17, PAGASA announced that it had removed 8 typhoon names from the list of names managed by the country because these storms have devastated the 2024 typhoon season.

The names Aghon, enteng, Julian, Kristine, Leon, Nika, Ofel and Pepito will be removed from the list of names used for typhoons in the Philippine Forecast Area (PAR) - PAGASA leader Nathaniel Servando informed.
With this decision, the 2024 typhoon season has the largest number of storm names removed since the current typhoon name system was deployed in the Philippines in 2001.
Based on official reports from the Philippine Civil Defense Office, the storm's name will be removed if it kills at least 300 people or causes at least 1 billion pesos (17.3 million USD) in damage to homes, agriculture and infrastructure in the country.
The Philippine weather agency has pointed out the double impact of consecutive storms in the last quarter of 2024 as the main reason for removing the names of the above storms.
The replacement names for the eight names that have just been removed are Amuyao, Edring, Josefa, Southwest, Lekep, Nanolay, Onos and Puwok. The new name will be used from January 1, 2028.
During the 2024 typhoon season, Aghon (international name Ewiniar), enteng (Yagi), Julian (Krathon), Kristine (Trami), Leon (Kong-rey), Nika (Toraji), Ofel (Usagi) and Pepito ( Man-yi) are all strong storms or super typhoons that cause widespread devastation not only in the Philippines but also affect many countries and territories in the region.
