According to Al Jazeera, the September 9 airstrike involved about 15 Israeli fighter jets launching more than 10 high-precision shells into the complex that is believed to be where the group met to discuss proposals to end the war in Gaza.
Suhail al-Hindi, a senior Hamas official, said that the son of Khalil al-Hayya - head of the Hamas Political Department - had been killed, along with a close assistant. Three bodyguards of the organization's leaders are currently missing after a series of airstrikes. The blood of movement leaders as well as the blood of any Palestinian child, al-Hindi stressed.
Hamas accused this of a cruel act of assassinating its leadership while they were discussing US-made initiatives to settle the conflict with Israel.

Israeli media said the operation was carried out unilaterally by Tel Aviv, targeting the "brain" of Hamas. However, many sources revealed that the US had been notified in advance. Channel 12 even quoted an unnamed official as saying that US President Donald Trump had "turned the green light" for this action.
Responding from the White House, spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt called it an unfortunate incident, stressing that the attack in Doha - a close ally and a major non- NATO partner of the United States - not helping the interests of Israel or the United States.
Qatar immediately strongly condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly attack on a residential area where members of the Hamas Political Department live. The Qatari Foreign Ministry confirmed that it had not been previously informed by Israel or the US. Meanwhile, the Qatari Ministry of Home Affairs said at least one security officer was killed and many injured while rescuing at the scene.
The incident is being assessed as a new escalation, pushing Middle East tensions into an unpredictable spiral as Israel expands its military campaign beyond Palestine, right in the country considered a key ally of Washington.
