According to AFP, Houthi forces on July 25 (local time) announced that they had launched a missile attack on the city of Jizan, southern Saudi Arabia.
Houthi media channel Ansarollah said that the attack caused fires in Jizan.
A video circulating on social networks verified by AFP shows dense plumes of smoke rising over a oil refinery owned by Saudi Aramco in Jizan.
Previously, the Saudi Arabian Civil Defense Agency issued a warning to residents in Jizan and Yanbu cities about potential dangers, but dismantled it a few minutes later.
Houthi declared an attack after a Saudi-led coalition announced on July 24 that it had raided facilities of this armed group and destroyed targets threatening maritime operations, in response to previous attacks on ships in the Red Sea.
A Yemeni security source told AFP that the naval base in the port city of Hodeida, as well as a military base on Kamaran Island, were among the targets attacked.
This move takes place in parallel with Iran blockading the Strait of Hormuz - Saudi Arabia's strategic maritime route.
According to AFP, this incident opens up another front in the conflict in the Middle East region, after US-Israel airstrikes targeting Iran in late February.
Also on July 25, the US did not announce any further attacks on Iran after 13 consecutive nights of airstrikes.
President Donald Trump said that the US has not yet made a decision on launching large-scale attacks on Iran because Tehran is showing more goodwill in negotiations with Washington.
Mr. Trump emphasized that Iran only has 2 options: To reach an agreement or face higher-level airstrikes - after nearly 2 weeks of US airstrikes that broke the ceasefire agreement.
The conflict that Mr. Trump once predicted would only last 4-5 weeks has entered its 5th month. The US President said that it is not yet possible to determine which factors will be the limiting points for making a decision, while emphasizing that Iran's approach to the possibility of developing nuclear weapons is still a "red line".
