Israel responds to Turkey's request for Interpol to issue a red notice for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

On August 21 (local time), according to Xinhua news agency, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office issued a response after Turkey requested Interpol to issue a red notice for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In a statement, Israel said it did not agree with Turkey's move and criticized President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Israel also said that Turkey is seeking to expand disagreements with Israel to the Syria issue.

Israel will not accept that," the Israeli Prime Minister's Office announced, while affirming that the country will continue to take action to prevent Turkey's moves that Tel Aviv believes may affect regional stability and Israel's security.

Earlier the same day, Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek said that the proceedings related to the incident targeting activists of an international train carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza are still ongoing.

This train departed from Turkey in May with the aim of trying to break Israel's blockade of Gaza and bring aid to the Palestinians. Afterwards, the train was stopped by Israel and those on board were taken home.

According to Mr. Gurlek, a court in Istanbul on July 14 issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Netanyahu on charges of "genocide". The Turkish Minister of Justice said Ankara has requested the Ministry of Interior to carry out the necessary procedures to request Interpol to issue a red notice for the Israeli Prime Minister at the international level.

Related documents have also been transferred to the Turkish Foreign Ministry for further processing, Mr. Gurlek said.

Disagreements between Israel and Turkey are also related to developments in Syria. On August 19, Israel confirmed that it had bombed an airbase in Syria and said the attack was carried out because Syria allowed Turkish forces to deploy here.

Turkey then condemned Israel's attack and denied reports that the country's army was present at the airbase in Syria.

The above developments take place in the context of Israel and Turkey continuing to have disagreements related to Gaza and the security situation in Syria.
