On September 27, the Israel National Cyber Security Administration said it was investigating many reports from people receiving calls with audio messages in jewish, with recruitment, threats and intimidation content.
According to local media, one of the self-proclaimed recordings came from Iranian intelligence, which sought to recruit spies.
The content of the recording reads: The Iranian press is looking for an official agent - a competitive salary, comprehensive security. Find us on Telegram and the Internet.
An unnamed man said he and his wife had received a call asking them to pay if they agreed to be spies for Iran.
Cybersecurity authorities warn people against listening to calls from numbers starting with 03-6817 and 03-3067, and must immediately disconnect if they do not respond, but note that listening to calls will not harm the phone.
The police also recommend that those who receive calls should immediately block the number and report it to the authorities.
In the past 2 years, there have been dozens of cases of Iranian spies successfully recruiting Israelis through social networks, especially Telegram.
Most of the people accused of spying initially only carry out small tasks, then gradually move towards more serious activities such as collecting intelligence or planning assassinations.
The increase in the number of Iranian spies has forced Israel to open a separate detention area at Damson Prison in Haifa.
These subjects are usually ordinary civilians, accessed online by Iranian intelligence, in a mass recruitment effort to gather information about Israel's nuclear and military facilities as well as defense officials and top scientists.
