Israel announces killing head of Hamas financial agency

    Tensions in the Gaza Strip escalated as Israel expanded its military campaign in the south and announced the killing of the head of Hamas's financial agency.

    On September 23, according to Xinhua, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israeli Internal Security Agency (Shin Bet) on September 23 jointly launched a military operation in the Khan Younis area, south of the Gaza Strip.

    According to a statement from Israel, this operation killed Mr. Mohammed Abu Alwan, head of the finance department of Hamas.

    Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Katz confirmed the information on official social networking sites, and praised the IDF and Shin Bet security agency for the operation.

    We will continue to hunt down Hamas commanders and agents, attack the financial resources of this force, as well as destroy their terrorist infrastructure," Mr. Katz posted on X social network on the same day.

    Mr. Israel Katz affirmed that Tel Aviv is determined not to allow Hamas to rebuild its forces and declared that military operations will continue until the organization's presence is completely eliminated in the Gaza Strip.
