In Germany, there are realistic prospects for the restoration and restart of the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
The plan to restore Nord Stream is being nurtured by the German Alternative Party (AfD).
According to Spiegel, this is stated in the draft government program of this party. The draft points out that Nord Stream needs to be repaired and the Baltic Sea gas pipeline needs to be put back into operation.
This project will come true if the AfD wins the election in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Spiegel mentioned the results of the polls, according to which AfD is leading in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with a rate of 35%. This result makes AfD's participation in the formation of the state's new government "almost inevitable".
Previously, there was information that the US was harboring plans to restore Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2, including buying this project from Europe. The information was shared by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with the press.
