In recent days, in the area at the foot of power pole number 305 (Doan Hung - Phu Tho) belonging to the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen power line project, many large landslides have appeared along the taluy around the foundation of the power pole.
After prolonged rains, soil and rocks from the hillside were continuously swept away by water, forming deep ditches close to the concrete foundation of the project.
According to actual records, the embankment area around the foot of the power pole is dug up jaggedly, many large patches of soil have subsided, revealing a loose soil and rock foundation. The water flow from the top of the slope flows down, forming deep cavities, showing signs of continuing to expand after each rain.

Residents living near the area said that the landslide phenomenon has appeared since around July 2025 and tends to become more serious when entering this year's rainy season.
Every heavy rain, soil and rocks drift down. We are most worried that landslides will continue to penetrate deep into the foundation of the power pole, affecting the safety of the project as well as the surrounding residential area," said a resident in Zone 1 Ngoc Quan, Doan Hung commune.
Not only affecting the power project, the landslide situation also affected about 3,000m2 of rice land of people in the area. Many areas of fields at the foot of the taluy were buried by soil and rocks, mud and soil spilled down after heavy rain.

According to observations, many extended cracks appeared at the foot of the power pole, and the ground was torn into deep ditches due to rainwater erosion. The taluy is being reinforced, but many items are still incomplete.
The taluy slope landslide prevention beam frame system is only at the stage of steel weaving, not yet concreted for protection. After a long period of sun and rain, many steel positions have shown signs of rust.
Local people believe that if prolonged heavy rains continue to appear, the risk of landslides may occur, directly affecting the load-bearing capacity of the foundation of the power pole.

On May 16, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Do Quang Khai, Deputy Director of Power Project Management Board 1, cum Director of the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen Power Line Project Management Board, said that after receiving feedback from people, the unit has coordinated with relevant units to inspect the site and assess the level of impact.
Currently, we have requested the contractor Hung An Co., Ltd. to urgently fix it to promptly prevent the incident," Mr. Khai said.
The Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV power line project is a national key project, approved for investment policy by the Prime Minister. The project has a total length of 229.5km with 468 electric pole foundation positions, passing through the provinces of Lao Cai and Phu Tho.
The project has a total investment of more than 7, 410 billion VND, assigned by Vietnam Electricity Group to the Power Project Management Board 1 and contractors to organize construction and project management. The power line was inaugurated in October 2025.
The section passing through Phu Tho province is more than 41km long with 94 electric pole foundation positions, passing through Doan Hung, Thanh Ba and Phu Ninh areas.
