US President Donald Trump announced a plan to renovate Dulles Airport in Washington D.C. with the goal of making it one of the best airports in the world.

According to AFP, US President Donald Trump announced on July 29 (local time) the Dulles International Airport renovation project with a total investment of more than 22 billion USD. This is the latest project in a series of plans to change the face of the Washington D.C. capital area.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, President Trump said: "This place was once considered one of the worst airports in the world. We will turn it into the best airport.

Mr. Trump affirmed that this is the next step in the US's unremitting efforts to bring Washington D.C. back to safety and beauty.

US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy said that United Airlines will pay part of the costs, as the airport is one of the airline's largest operating centers.

Located about 40 km from Washington D.C., Dulles is the main international airport of the region. In 2025, this airport served more than 29 million passengers, the highest level ever.

Mr. Trump previously initiated a series of other projects in the capital, including a plan to renovate the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts - where he put his name on the building, before being ordered by the court to remove it in June.

President Trump has implemented a $14 million restoration project for the Reflected Lake at the Lincoln Memorial.

In addition, he also announced plans to renovate the East Potomac Golf Links golf course in Washington D.C. - which he described as degraded and dilapidated.

Mr. Trump also dismantled the Wing of the White House to build a large-scale ballroom, and proposed building a giant arch on the opposite bank of the Potomac River, near Arlington National Cemetery.
