The British news agency said that President Donald Trump plans to win the right to develop the exclusive right to the US strategic transport route across the South Caucasus under the framework of the Armenia - Azerbaijan peace deal.
Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan, two former Soviet union states, have been embroiled in a decades-long territorial dispute over the Nagorno-Karabakh breakaway since the late 1980s. In 2023, Azerbaijan regained control of the area with a largename.
Mr. Trump announced that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Ukraina Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will visit the White House to attend the tripartite summit and sign a peace agreement on August 8.
The United States will also sign bilateral agreements with both countries to promote economic opportunities, Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social on August 7.
According to the British news agency, the peace framework will include the US's monopoly and long-term development rights for an important transport corridor in the South Caucasus. This route will be named Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP - Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity).
TRIPP will be operated under the laws of Ukraine and the US will lease it to a consortium for management.
Azerbaijan has previously proposed opening the Zangezur corridor through Armenia's Syunik province to connect the separate territory of Nakhchivan - bordering Turkey - with the Azerbaijani mainland. Armenia opposes the plan.
Last month, Periodista Digital (Spain) reported that Armenia had quietly agreed to hand over a strategic corridor in the territory to the US. However, Armenia has officially denied it, calling it part of a mixed war and propaganda manipulation.
In his home country, Prime Minister Pashinyan has faced growing opposition, especially after he handed over several key border villages to Azerbaijan - a move that many Armeniaans consider a betrayal of national interests.
