Russia is ready to expand cooperation with Southeast Asian countries through the export of air defense weapon systems that have been proven highly effective in real combat, weapons export company Rosoboronexport (under state-owned technology corporation Rostec) shared with TASS news agency.
According to Rosoboronexport, the Russian defense industry has fully developed air defense systems, from shoulder-fired air defense systems to long-range air defense missile systems. Many of these systems have proven highly effective in real combat. The Russian company affirms its willingness to cooperate with Southeast Asian countries in this field through export products.
At the international exhibition on weapons and military equipment DSA 2026 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Rosoboronexport introduced the Pantsir-S1M missile-gun air defense system model developed by High Precision Systems company under Rostec.
According to Rosoboronexport, the Pantsir-S1M system can operate effectively when combined with other air defense systems. The outstanding advantage of this complex is the ability to use 3 types of surface-to-air missiles, including short-range missiles specializing in dealing with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Pantsir-S1M not only destroys air targets but can also attack targets and ground structures. In addition, the Pantsir-S1M system is highly maneuverable and can fire when moving.

Also in Kuala Lumpur, Rosoboronexport said it is ready to implement technology cooperation projects and jointly develop drones with Southeast Asian partners.
At DSA 2026, a company spokesman said that Russia is displaying the latest tactical UAV systems serving reconnaissance and attacking many types of targets, along with warheads for UAVs.
Russia is ready to provide partners in the region with both complete products and technology cooperation, including localization of UAV production, transfer of licenses and technology. At the same time, Rosoboronexport is also open to joint UAV development projects.
Rosoboronexport emphasizes that the clear competitive advantage of Russian UAVs is that they are developed based on rich real-world experience.
The unmanned systems displayed in Kuala Lumpur are designed to suit the specific climate and environment of Southeast Asia. DSA 2026 also introduces replaceable and detachable warheads for UAVs, which can be integrated into existing customer systems. These warheads are designed to serve many different purposes, from conventional UAVs to flying ammunition" - the company noted.
The DSA Exhibition (Defense Services Asia) is one of the largest defense events in the Asia-Pacific region, taking place from April 20 to 23 in Kuala Lumpur.
