Russian forces have seized control of about 1,000km2 of territory in the special military operation area in Ukraine throughout the summer, nearly double that of spring, military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS on September 1.
According to Mr. Marochko, in 3 summer months, the Russian army controlled about 90 residential areas, including 20 in June, 31 in July and 39 in August - 32 more than in spring.
Regarding the level of advance in the territories, it is very difficult to calculate. The Russian Ministry of Defense does not publish such figures, and the surveillance data in the summer is significantly different. But if we compare the spring and summer maps, according to my calculations, the Russian armed forces have liberated nearly double the territory - about 1,000km2 that was under our control in the summer," he said in a live broadcast on his personal page on the social network VKontakte, when analyzing the data of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The expert added that the Northern Operations Group is the force that controls the most residential areas in the summer, with 28 areas.
