On December 17, at a press conference held in Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov gave fierce criticism to the United States and European countries. These tough statements were made by the head of the Russian diplomatic sector right after the end of strategic talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi.
Referring to the current geopolitical tensions, Mr. Sergey Lavrov said that the objective process of history requires the implementation of the noble principles in the United Nations Charter to be inevitable.
The Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that the international community needs to respect and apply these principles to practice in a complete and complete manner and in close connection with each other. He strongly opposed the selective application of international law or depending on each specific case to serve personal interests.
In-depth analysis of the Ukrainian conflict, Mr. Lavrov said this is the most typical example of the Western collective trying to distort all standards of international law.
According to Moscow, Western countries are trying to replace common legal regulations with separate rules set by themselves. These rules are completely inconsistent with the guidelines and framework that have been widely recognized by the international community to date.

Explaining the motives behind this action, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused that through self-made rules, the West and especially European countries want to continue to maintain new colonial policies.
The veteran Russian diplomat described the core goal of the policy as maintaining a lifestyle based on the efforts, resources and costs of other ethnic groups, similar to the one that Western powers have operated for the past 500 years.
Also within the framework of the above important diplomatic event, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Aragchi had in-depth discussions on bilateral cooperation issues and the international situation.
After the talks, the diplomatic leaders of the two countries officially signed a consultation plan between the two Foreign Ministries for the period from 2026 to 2028.
The signing ceremony took place solemnly at the Russian Foreign Ministry Guest House in central Moscow, marking a new step forward to tighten partnerships between the two countries that are facing many sanctions from the West.
