If he fully and thoroughly implements what he has promised to the voters in the US and has declared so far, Mr. Trump will change the US and stir up the world in the next 4 years. Compared to 8 years ago, Mr. Trump is now at a much more favorable starting point for the beginning of his term in office.
On his first day in office, Mr. Trump will certainly issue many executive orders to build his image as a man of action, who does what he says. For Mr. Trump, as seen in his first term, launching drastic governing decisions is considered more important and prioritized than the next developments and the final outcome.
According to what Mr. Trump has declared, the domestic politics of the United States will be bustling immediately because Mr. Trump will massively deport illegal immigrants, reduce taxes, encourage oil and gas exploitation and use of fossil fuels, and eliminate many regulations that Mr. Trump considers detrimental to the American economy.
In terms of foreign affairs, Mr. Trump’s agenda includes plans to impose trade protection tariffs on a series of US partners, plans to withdraw the US from the UN Paris Agreement on climate change and possibly the World Health Organization. A key priority for Mr. Trump is to fulfill his commitment to ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict. World politics will be more vibrant and uncertain about what Mr. Trump will do next with Russia and Ukraine, with the EU and NATO, with China and Iran.
Trump brought his old slogans of "America First" and "Make America Great Again" to the White House. Trump wants a lot and has big ambitions, but not everything he wants to do will be successful. The reason is that Trump does not have much time and everything he plans to do is not simple. The Republican Party and Trump's team are united and in agreement in the fight for power, but may quickly split when in power.
The world is different today, Mr. Trump will change but not turn America upside down and will only stir but not shake the world.
