The world's most promising jobs in 2025

According to the job social network LinkedIn, the fastest-growing jobs in 2025 barely existed at the beginning of this century.

The report, compiled from data from millions of users between January 2022 and July 2024, shows that jobs related to artificial intelligence (AI) are dominating the list of fast-growing occupations.

AI engineers and AI consultants are at the top, while AI researchers are at number 12. Artificial intelligence has become a new focus in Silicon Valley, with developments from companies like OpenAI. Their advanced chatbots are capable of performing a variety of tasks, from conversing, to providing recipes, to editing images, although they are still sometimes flawed.

Not all of the potential jobs are in the tech sector, however. Physical therapists came in third. Workforce development managers and travel consultants followed, reflecting a strong recovery in the tourism and hospitality industry after a long period of economic and social disruption.

LinkedIn calls the ranking a “roadmap for the future of work,” reflecting the transformation of today’s workforce. The platform highlights the important role of professions like artificial intelligence, while also noting sustained growth in areas like healthcare, workforce development, and travel services.

The report also sheds light on the gender gap in top occupations. Among the top 10 fastest-growing jobs, positions like security guard (67%), outside sales representative (81%), AI consultant (70%), and engineer (80%) are overwhelmingly held by men.

The labor market continues to recover strongly, with 256,000 new jobs created in December 2024, far exceeding economists' forecast of 153,000, according to the latest data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The unemployment rate fell to 4.1%, showing a bright outlook for potential jobs in 2025.
