According to Yonhap, the South Korean presidential office said this could be a sign that North Korea is conducting a 6th nuclear test. President Moon Jae-in has called an emergency security meeting to discuss the aftershock.
According to Reuters, the US Geological Survey said the earthquake occurred 55km northwest of Kimchaek City, North Korea. There have been no reports of damage or casualties.
The China Earth Agency (CEA) detected a 6.3-magnitude earthquake in northern North Korea and suspected it was an explosion. CEA said the earthquake occurred at around 12:39 and was directly on the ground.

Information about the earthquake occurred just a few hours after the state news agency KCNA of North Korea announced on September 3 that Pyongyang owns a thermal bomb attached to an intercontinental ballistic missile.
