In his speech at the US Business Forum in Miami on November 5 (US time), US President Donald Trump said that he may be considering a den enoughularization plan with Russia and China. However, Mr. Trump did not provide further information on the content or implementation methods.
Mr. Trump affirmed that the US has modernized its nuclear arsenal and become the leader in nuclear power. Russia is second and China is third but could catch up in the next few years.
President Trump said the US, Russia and China may be working together on a denuclarization plan and left open the possibility of a success.
"We have restructured our nuclear capabilities - we are the number one nuclear power, which I don't want to acknowledge, because it's too terrible," Trump said at the US Business Forum in Miami.
"Russia is second. China is in third place, but they will catch up with us in the next 4 or 5 years. We may be building a denutionalization plan, all three of us. Let's wait and see if that works," he added.
Before Mr. Trump talked about the possibility of reducing nuclear weapons, Russia focused on emphasizing the power of new weapons systems. At an awards ceremony for defense scientists and experts, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that new nuclear super weapons will ensure strategic balance for decades to come.
Mr. Putin affirmed that Russia does not threaten any country and develops nuclear capabilities stably like other powers. He also stressed that miniature nuclear technology could be applied to civil applications, space exploration or energy production in remote areas.
