Since yesterday, the Emergency Department - Quang Ngai General Hospital has received many cases of serious injuries due to accidents while tying up houses and pruning trees to cope with storm Kalmaegi (storm No. 13,).

On the afternoon of November 5, the Emergency Department admitted male patient V.D.T (54 years old, in Binh Son district) to the hospital in a state of multiple injuries. According to the family, Mr. T fell from a height of about 3.5 meters to the ground while climbing the roof to reinforce the corrugated iron roof before the storm made landfall.
After examination and necessary tests, the doctor diagnosed the patient with a closed vertebrae and a broken left heel. Mr. T was indicated for surgery and inpatient treatment.
Similarly, patient N.T (58 years old, in Tu Nghia district) was taken to the emergency room in a state of head injury. Before that, he fell from a tree while pruning branches in the garden to prevent and combat the storm.

Doctor Luong Quyet Thang - Head of the Emergency Department, said that in just the past two days, the department has received more than 10 cases of injuries while tying up a house or lowering the height of trees. Many cases suffered serious injuries such as broken heels, back vertebrae, and traumatic brain injuries.
Dr. Thang recommends that people when preventing and fighting storms, need to pay special attention to ensuring their safety, avoid working at high places or using unsafe tools. The hospital is always ready with human resources and equipment to receive and provide timely emergency care to those in distress.
According to the Quang Ngai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, at 7:00 a.m. on November 6, the center of storm No. 13 was at about 13.2° North latitude; 112.3 degrees East longitude, about 330km East Southeast of Quy Nhon (Gia Lai). The strongest wind near the storm center is level 14 (150 - 166km/h), gusting to level 17, the storm continues to move in the West Northwest direction at a speed of about 30km/h.
It is forecasted that in the afternoon and evening of November 6, the storm will approach the sea area from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and is likely to maintain a strong intensity of level 13 - 14, gusting to level 17 before making landfall from the night of November 6 to November 7.
In the sea area of Quang Ngai, including Ly Son special zone, the wind is gradually increasing, the waves are forecast to be 7 - 9m high, the sea is very rough. The storm circulation could cause widespread heavy rain, warning of flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas in the next 24 - 48 hours.
