Elon Musk said the US Party is aimed at challenging the dominance of both the Republican and Democratic parties before the 2026 midterm elections.
These statements were made after the tech billionaire announced over the weekend that he was promoting plans to form a new party, the United States Party.
Elon Musk has positioned the US Party as an alternative to what he calls the " one-party Republican/Democratic Party", accusing both of the country's financial management factions of not being good and holding back voters' choices.
"Supporting a presidential candidate is not impossible, but the focus in the next 12 months is the House of Representatives and the Senate," Elon Musk wrote on X on July 6, making it clear his short-term priority to aim for the US midterm election in November 2026, when 33 out of 100 Senate seats and all 435 House seats will be re-elected.
Elon Musk also increased his criticism of President Donald Trump's fiscal policy, questioning the value of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a temporary agency that the president appoints him as leader.
What is the purpose of @DOGE if he directs to increase the debt by 5 trillion USD? ?" - Elon Musk wrote.
For his part, after more than a day of silence about Elon Musk's US Party, on July 6, President Donald Trump wrote on the Truth Social website that he felt sad to see Elon Musk completely "correct the railway, basically becoming a train disaster in the past 5 weeks".

"He even wants to establish a third political party, even though in fact such parties have never been successful in the US - the system does not seem to be designed for them. The only thing that the third parties bring is complete disruption and chaos, and we are enough for that from the far-left progressive Democrats, who have lost both confidence and reason! - Mr. Donald Trump wrote.
The US President emphasized that the Republican Party is a " machinery" operating smoothly, having just passed the largest bill of its kind in the country's history. He called it a great bill, but unfortunately for Elon Musk, the bill eliminated the unreasonable mandatory requirement for electric vehicle (EV) subsidies - which would force people to buy electric vehicles in a short time.
Mr. Trump said that now people are allowed to buy anything they want - gasoline cars, hybrid cars (which are working very well), or new technologies when they appear - no longer have compulsory subsidies for EVs.
"I have been campaigning for this for two years and honestly, when Elon publicly endorsed me completely and unconditionally, I asked him if he knew I would abolish the EV requirement - that was in every speech of mine, and every conversation of mine. Elon said it was okay - I was surprised!" - Mr. Trump wrote.
President Trump affirmed that his number one responsibility is to protect the American people.
