New discovery at Tam Tinh Doi archaeological site

Thanh Hà |

The Tam Tinh Doi Site in China is considered one of the world's greatest archaeological discoveries in the 20th century.

In Tam Tinh Doi, Chinese archaeologists have discovered a workshop for making stone and pearl artifacts that are over 3,400 years old.

The latest archaeological discovery at the legendary Tam Tinh Doi site helps reveal the origin of previously excavated cultural artifacts, according to Xinhua.

The stone and pearl processing workshop in Tam Tinh Doi is located about 1km north of the nearest excavated donation pit.

This discovery is a significant step forward in the archaeological excavation at the legendary site in Sichuan Province, southwestern China, the Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Relics of Sichuan Province informed on July 23.

Archaeologists have determined that this initial workshop for the production of bullion and stone contains artifacts such as rough joints, raw stones, finished products as well as debris. These traces show that there has been a relatively complete manual process at Tam Tinh Doi's workshop.

The discovery of the workshop sheds light on some mysteries, such as the origin of the large amount of stone and pearl materials in Tam Tinh Doi, the techniques used in the processing, production process and related distribution methods - Honglin, the person in charge of archaeological activities at Tam Tinh Doi relic site, shared.

Since 2022, more than 400 archaeological sites have been identified in Tam Tinh Doi, including the foundation of high-rise buildings, ash pits, and places for the production and processing of stone objects. According to the Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Relics of Tu Xuyen province, more than 4,000 artifacts, including pottery, pearl and stone, have been excavated at Tam Tinh Doi.

Since its discovery, more than 60,000 artifacts have been excavated at the legendary archaeological site of Tam Tinh Doi. The new Tam Tinh Doi Museum opened nearly a year ago has attracted more than 5 million visitors from all over the world.

Also related to Tam Tinh Doi, CGTN reported on July 23 that more than 50 artifacts were restored, including bronze, gold and pearls excavated at the Tam Tinh Doi relic site, which were displayed in the opening exhibition on the same day. The exhibition is expected to last until the end of 2024.

The artifacts currently on display at Tam Tinh Doi Museum in Quang Han city are the result of the archaeological protection and restoration process being carried out at this important archaeological site. Nearly 90% of the antiques in this exhibition are on display to the public for the first time.

CGTN informed that since 2020, a group of archaeologists from the Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Relics of Sichuan province, Beijing University, Sichuan University, as well as other research institutes and universities in China have excavated archaeology at the offering pits from No. 3 to No. 8 in Tam Tinh Doi. To date, 17,000 artifacts have been excavated from these 6 pits, with more than 4,500 relatively intact artifacts identified.

Tam Tinh Doi destination has an area of 12km2, located in Quang Han city, Tu Xuyen province. Tam Tinh Doi is said to be a ruined Thuc Kingdom, dating back about 4,500 - 3,000 years.

The relic of Tam Tinh Doi is known as one of the most important archaeological discoveries in the world in the 20th century. This archaeological site was discovered in the late 20.
