Answering VNA, Professor Khuc Cuong - commentator of Chinese television channel CGTN and lecturer at the Central National University of China - said that this election is an important political event, taking place in the context of Vietnam entering a new stage of development with many strategic goals on socio-economics and national governance.
Referring to Vietnam holding elections earlier than usual, Professor Khuc Cuong said that this decision stems from the practical requirements of the new development stage. In the context of the country setting many goals such as faster economic growth, structural transformation and improving average income, early consolidation of the leadership apparatus will help the political system operate smoothly and state agencies promptly implement development orientations.
Mr. Khuc Cuong said that with the current development foundation and strategic goals set out, Vietnam is facing an important development stage. The organization of elections for National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels for the new term will contribute to creating momentum for the country's development process in the coming time.
Referring to Vietnam's decision to hold elections 2 months earlier, according to Professor, Dr. Anmol Mukhia of the University of South Asia in India, this decision is seen as a "second wave of reforms" to ensure that the new leadership apparatus is immediately consolidated to implement ambitious development goals, towards making the country a developed economy by 2045.
The Professor of the University of South Asia also noted that this is the first election to be organized according to the new 2-level local government model that is more streamlined, replacing the previous structure with district level. This mechanism also enhances representativeness when requiring new delegates to have the capacity to manage larger, reorganized and more complex administrative units, thereby improving the effectiveness of local governance towards serving the people.
Cuban political scientist Luis Manuel Arce Isaac said that accelerating the election process is carefully considered stemming from the important development goals that the country has set and is gradually realizing successfully, helping Vietnam overcome obstacles on the path of development towards prosperity. Mr. Luis Manuel Arce Isaac assessed that Vietnam has full potential not only to be an "observant" but also a key factor in the current era of change.
