On the afternoon of September 29, a quick report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment showed that the whole Lao Cai province suffered 9 losses, including 3 deaths (1 in Muong Hum commune due to landslides, 1 in Viet Hong commune due to landslides, 1 in Phong Du Ha commune was swept away by floodwaters).
In addition, floods left 1 person missing and 5 people injured. The total number of houses with blown-off, damaged, and flooded roofs is 4,694, and 1,036 households in dangerous areas must be evacuated to safe places.



In the agricultural sector, floods caused damage to more than 1,350 hectares of crops including rice, corn, vegetables and other crops.
At the same time, floods also killed 310 poultry, 62 pigs, swept away over 1.1 tons of fish and dozens of hectares of aquaculture ponds.
Many key traffic routes such as National Highway 32, Provincial Roads 174, 175B, 155, 162, 172,.... were buried by landslides, causing local congestion.
Medical and educational infrastructure was also affected, with some schools, cultural houses and irrigation works having their roofs blown off and landslides.


The initial estimated damage is about 40 billion VND.
Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, functional forces were present at the scene in time to command and encourage people to help overcome the damage.
For landslides, management units have organized the first step of repairing them to ensure traffic for vehicles and people.
It is forecasted that in the next 6 - 24 hours, the flood will continue to fall on the Thao River at Lao Cai station, the flood will rise slowly and then fall; on the Chay River at Bao Yen, the flood will continue to rise.
The peak flood level on Thao River at Yen Bai station is likely to reach 34.70m, above BD3 is 2.70m; the peak flood on Chay River at Bao Yen is likely to be at 85.00m, the flood amplitude will increase to 8.0m, appearing at noon today, September 30.
