However, most public schools still let students go to school normally. On the morning of September 30, many parents struggled to take their children to school in the rain, flooding and traffic jams.
Only by noon on September 30 did some schools inform parents that if they were able to pick up their children early (the second session off).
Sharing with reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, parents at Co Nhue 2 Secondary School - said that on the morning of September 30, their children went to school. However, due to heavy rain, the school entrance was deeply flooded, so the army dispatched specialized vehicles to carry the children out of the flooded area. This afternoon, students have had a day off.

Ms. Thu Hoai, a parent whose child is studying at Chu Van An Secondary School (Tay Ho Ward) shared that she had to struggle for more than 2 hours to safely pick her child up and return home because after a continuous heavy rain, many roads were severely flooded.
"There are many deep flooded sections that the mother and child did not dare to pass through, thanks to the help of the people pushing their vehicles through the flooded area, the mother and child wandered around and returned home safely" - Ms. Hoai said.

For her eldest daughter studying at Le Quy Don - Dong Da High School, she also received a notice from her homeroom teacher: Parents should consider the weather and flooded areas to decide whether to let their children stay home from school or go to school, to ensure the health and safety of students. The school still serves students to return to school and study normally.
Ms. Do Phuong Hao (Xuan Phuong, Hanoi) said that this morning, although there was no announcement from the school, monitoring the weather and being warned of prolonged rain causing flooding on many streets, she proactively informed the teacher to let her children stay home from school.
"It's a good thing to have my children at home. At around noon, the area around my house had collapsed, and water had overflowed into the first floor. If I send my child to school, I don't know how to handle it to welcome him home safely" - Ms. Hao said.
Up to now, Hanoi is still raining, causing traffic congestion on many streets. In this situation, some schools have issued urgent notices.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khang - Chairman of the Education Council of Marie Curie Secondary and High School (Hanoi) issued a special notice to respond to bad weather.
"The school does not let students and everyone is hungry and cold and cannot go home. Dinner is completely free. The school's kitchens, teachers and the supervisory team take care of all the food and sleep for those who stay at school on the night of September 30, 2025" - the announcement stated.
Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary and High School also informed all parents: To ensure safety, the bus system will stop operating this afternoon, September 30, 2025.
The school will organize dinner and overnight sleep for all students who register to stay; support breakfast tomorrow, October 1, 2025. The school ensures the same portion sizes for the day as the boarding meals for the children (parents, students register with homeroom teachers).
"In case parents pick up their children, please carefully consider safety factors and notify the homeroom teacher" - the announcement clearly stated.
Mr. Dam Tien Nam - Principal of Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary and High School - Cau Giay informed that according to preliminary statistics of the school as of 4:00 p.m. on September 30, 261 primary school students, 221 secondary school students, and over 400 high school students had been registered by parents.
