On the afternoon of July 28, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that Thailand and Cambodia will " immediately and unconditionally cease fire", effective from midnight on July 28 (local time).
"This is an important first step to reduce escalation and restore peace and security," Anwar said.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Acting Thai Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai have just concluded negotiations in Malaysia. The two sides have expressed their stance and desire for an immediate ceasefire, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.
Hun Manet called the negotiations "good" and said he hoped to end the fighting "immediately".
He noted that 300,000 people on both sides of the conflict had to be evacuated.
The Cambodian leader thanked Prime Minister Anwar, US President Donald Trump and the Chinese government for their participation in the reconciliation process.
He also thanked his Thai counterpart Phumtham Wechayachai for his "constructive" participation in the negotiations.
Prime Minister Hun Manet said he believes the results of the negotiations will " bring many opportunities for hundreds of thousands of people on both sides to return to normal life".
He added that it is time to " start rebuilding trust and confidence in the future between Cambodia and Thailand".

Speaking briefly after Prime Minister Hun Manet, the Acting Thai Prime Minister said that the ceasefire had been negotiated "with goodwill" and Thailand was committed to peace.
On the morning of July 29, after the ceasefire comes into effect, military commanders will hold an "unofficial meeting" at 7am. Next is a meeting of defense deputies chaired by the ASEAN Chairman on August 4.
