French President Emmanuel Macron has asked European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to issue a "European legislative document" to ban children under 15 years old from using social media, to "protect all children in the Union", according to the content of the letter that AFP accessed on September 7.
In a letter dated August 29 sent to Ms. von der Leyen, the French leader affirmed "now, it is essential to go further and harmonize this regulation through a new document at the European level".
Regarding the proposal to ban children under 15 years old from using social networks, French President Emmanuel Macron is hoping to find a direction in the coming months through a national-level amended legal document, ensuring compliance with European Union law and the French Constitution.
