Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone call with US President Donald Trump on July 4 (local time), according to Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov.
Xinhua reported that the United States is celebrating its 250th anniversary on July 4th, the country's National Day. Mr. Ushakov confirmed that Mr. Putin congratulated Mr. Trump on the occasion.
This conversation, the fourth exchange this year, is of course not just a normal procedural exchange but is substantive and very constructive. It allows the two sides to frankly discuss urgent issues in the bilateral and international agenda," the Presidential Assistant said.
In the conversation, Mr. Putin presented the actual situation on the battlefield, where the Russian army is advancing along the entire contact line. Mr. Ushakov emphasized that European countries have a misperception of the overall movement as well as the reality on the ground along the contact line in the context of the Ukraine conflict.
Regarding bilateral relations, the two Presidents emphasized the importance of maintaining regular contact, including on military-political and economic fronts.
There are great prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation between our two countries in these areas. Mr. Trump emphasized that early resolution of the Ukraine conflict will be a prerequisite to unlock that cooperation," Ushakov said.
