The images and footage showed the unnamed patient covered his body with blood and a knife tong that had been stuck deep on his head.
The image was recorded at Chongqing People's Hospital, Hamining City, Hubei Province, China from the evening of June 8. However, the incident was only discovered by the media on June 11 when images and videos spread online.
This patient is currently gradually recovering at the hospital after having surgery to remove the knife.
Police are currently investigating the incident, Chinese media said.
The patient was reportedly attacked after a fight, the hospital revealed to Beijing News.
A doctor said that the patient had successful surgery and was in a stable condition.
Earlier this week, another Chinese man was hospitalized with a arrow in his chest after accidentally shooting himself while watching the bow.
The victim, identified as Xiao Peng, miraculously escaped death because the arrow was only 5mm from the heart.
Xiao Peng is recovering at a hospital after a successful surgery in Yining, Guangxi Province, southern China.
A doctor at Quang Tay People's Hospital said that the arrow penetrated the left lung and broke one of the patient's ribs.
