Vietnam - Russia improve the quality of cooperation in key areas

The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed on February 25 that, within the framework of his visit to the Russian Federation to announce the results of the XIV Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on the afternoon of February 24, at the Kremlin, Special Envoy of General Secretary To Lam, Member of the Politburo, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung had a meeting with President V. Putin.

At the meeting, President V. Putin welcomed Comrade Le Hoai Trung as Special Envoy of General Secretary To Lam, leading the delegation to the Russian Federation to announce the results of the XIV Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (XIV Congress of the Party).

President V. Putin once again congratulated the success of the 14th Party Congress, highly appreciated the results of the phone call with General Secretary To Lam immediately after the end of the 14th Party Congress; expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will successfully implement strategic priorities, bring the country into an era of reaching out and strong development, and successfully implement the set goals.

Comrade Le Hoai Trung conveyed the message of General Secretary To Lam to President V. Putin, emphasizing that the 14th Party Congress has fulfilled its great historical responsibility, deeply summarized the reality of the Vietnamese revolution after 40 years of Doi Moi, set out major goals, directions and strategic breakthroughs for the future and destiny of the Vietnamese nation in the new era of development.

Comrade Le Hoai Trung informed about the major orientations and three strategic breakthroughs of the 14th Party Congress, highly appreciating the fact that under the direction of senior leaders of the two countries, Vietnam-Russia relations have developed very dynamically and achieved many important results.

In the new era of development, Vietnam wishes and believes that the Russian Federation will continue to be a reliable and loyal companion; continuing to deepen the comprehensive strategic relationship between Vietnam and Russia not only serves the national and ethnic interests of each country, but also makes positive contributions to peace, stability and sustainable development of the region and the world.

Based on the major orientations in General Secretary To Lam's message, Comrade Le Hoai Trung affirmed his desire to strengthen cooperation with Russia in the fields of nuclear energy, oil and gas, maritime cooperation, defense, military technology, science - technology and transportation.

President V. Putin emphasized that Russia always values the continuous development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam for the benefit of the people of the two countries; affirmed that considering General Secretary To Lam as a close friend, hoping to welcome General Secretary To Lam to visit Russia soon; ready to maintain regular contact and exchange with General Secretary To Lam on strategic issues as well as bilateral relations; wishing the two sides to further improve the quality and efficiency of cooperation in key areas such as energy, oil and gas, military technology, expanding to the fields of nuclear power, science and technology, and transportation.

On this occasion, Comrade Le Hoai Trung conveyed General Secretary To Lam's invitation to visit Vietnam to President V. Putin. President V. Putin thanked and happily accepted the invitation.

Also in the afternoon of February 24, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung and Russian Foreign Minister S. Lavrov held talks.

The two sides jointly reviewed and assessed the situation of bilateral cooperation, including the coordination between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs; shared and agreed on many measures to promote the leading role of the two ministries in further consolidating and strengthening relations between the two countries; exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
