Ukrainian tanks on fire after attack by Russian UAVs

Russian drones attack, causing Ukrainian tanks to explode in Kursk province.

RT reported that the attack by Russian marines in Kursk province blew up the artillery tower of Ukrainian tanks.

According to a clip posted on Zvezda News, the brutal attack by Kamikaze drones destroyed a Ukrainian tank in Russia's Kursk region.

The short clip posted late on August 27 on social media is believed to have come from Russia's 810th Coast Guard infantry Brigade - a unit deployed this month to counter the Ukrainian attack in Kursk province.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the authenticity of the video on August 28, saying the attack took place in Kursk province.

The tank, identified by some media as a Ukrainian T-72M1 tank, was reportedly spotted in an open area near the village of Olgovka, about 30km northwest of the border town of Sudzha, currently controlled by Kiev forces.

The video shows the tank in action, moving and firing shells from the main gun, then standing still on a dirt road. Video of the change to a drone shows the pilot controlling the patrol bullet to a weak spot behind the artillery tower. The attack was also filmed from another drone.

The collision caused a large explosion, blowing the fireworks tower off the trunk and dropping it for several meters. The tank was then engulfed in flames and destroyed by secondary explosions.

The film does not say whether there was anyone driving the tank at the time it was hit.

Kamikaze suicide UAVs can be used to destroy damaged vehicles and leave them on the battlefield so that the enemy cannot retake them.

Ukraine has sent thousands of troops to Kursk province this month to put pressure on Russia.

The Russian military estimates the losses of the Ukrainian army in this campaign at more than 6,600 troops, 73 tanks, hundreds of other military vehicles and dozens of heavy weapons.

The Olgovka settlement was listed by the Defense Ministry in the latest update on the situation in Kursk as one of many settlements that the Ukrainian army has tried but failed to occupy.
