The new season of the F1 racing is very close. After the trial round on Friday, today (March 19), the runners will enter the qualifying round, before officially racing on Sunday. The new season is also the beginning of a new era...
There have been many incidents since Red Bull's Maxverstappen won the Grand Prix Abu Dhabi and also won the world championship for the first time, ending Lewis Hamilton's record since 2017. Although the final round of the season's final night is still controversial, it is time to include it in the commemoration.
This season, F1 has new race directors, new teammates and new elements to adapt to new cars designed to comply with technical regulations.
While this season is likely to see fierce competition betweenverstappen and Hamilton, younger stars, such as Lando Norris and Pierre Gasly, are showing their potential. Previous winners, such as Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, are hoping to prove they can still compete for the title.
The story of the 2022 season: 10 teams, 20 runners and 22 races in 36 days of the weekend. What could happen?
Who has changed teams this season?
Formula 1 racing is one of the most diverse sporting tournaments, with runners from all over the world.
More than 10 countries have representatives from 20 trackers and many other countries in the parking area and teams. Most teams have not changed since last season, although some have moved to other teams and new players have been added. Everything seemed ready, but the Russia-Ukraine conflict led to a last-minute change in Haas' squad right before the start of the pre-season trial in Bahrain.
They terminated their contracts with Nikita Mazepin and sponsor Uralkali, owned by Dmitry, Mazepin's father, on March 5. Kevin Magnussen re-signed for Haas F1 the same day.
Meanwhile, other runners have made moves before the start of the season. George Russell left Williams and joined Mercedes, the team that parted ways with Valtteri Bottas. The Finnish racer will lead Alfa Romeo this season alongside rookie Zhou Guanyu.
Alexander Albon returned to Williams after Red Bull eliminated the Thai racer in 2020. However, he has been kept as a trial and reserve runner-up, and now, Albon has had his hit once again.
The most important change came from the position of race director. After the controversial decision in Abu Dhabi, Michael Masi was investigated, leading to his exclusion from the role. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem announced that Nielsitti Wenger, former director of the DTM race, and Eduardo Freitas, director of the WEC race, will rotate as race directors. They will be supported by Herbie Blash as a permanent senior advisor.
Other important changes are the virtual racing control room being applied, direct radio connection between racing teams and the race director will be eliminated, as well as the law related to safe vehicles being adjusted to create fairness... will lead to a very promising 2022 season.
