On the morning of September 20, the Vietnamese fencing team arrived in Aichi-Nagoya (Japan) to compete in ASIAD 20.
The coaching staff of the Vietnamese fencing team registered 10 players to compete including: Nguyen Van Quyet, Nguyen Xuan Loi, Le Van Bang, Tran Thi Thuy Trinh, Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh, Nguyen Phuong Kim, Nguyen Phuoc Den, Hoang Nhat Nam, Nguyen Tien Nhat, Nguyen Minh Hieu.
The Vietnamese fencing team has just completed training in Korea and China before coming to Japan to attend ASIAD 20.
This year, the coaching staff continues to place their faith in the opportunity to compete for medals in the men's sabre and men's sabre events.
In the swordsman squad participating in ASIAD 20, Nguyen Tien Nhat is the most experienced face.
Tien Nhat once won a men's individual fencing bronze medal at ASIAD 17 in 2014 and a men's team fencing bronze medal at the same Games.
Tien Nhat will focus on team events, not individual competition at ASIAD 20.
According to preliminary registration, the Vietnamese fencing team will participate in the women's individual fencing event (Thuy Trinh, Phuong Kim), men's individual swordplay event (Xuan Loi, Van Quyet), men's individual fencing event (Phuoc Den, Nhat Nam).
In addition, we feature female three-sided sword teammates (Thuy Trinh, Phuong Kim, Kieu Oanh), male sword teammates (Van Quyet, Xuan Loi, Van Bang) and male three-sided sword teammates (Phuoc Den, Nhat Nam, Tien Nhat, Minh Hieu).
The coaching staff of the Vietnamese fencing team said that in addition to professional preparation, the whole team will wait for the draw results of each event to be held at the technical meeting before the competition.
The ASIAD 20 fencing event takes place from September 22nd to September 27th.
At ASIAD 19 held in 2023, the Vietnamese fencing team did not win a medal.
