On the morning of May 22, the Vietnam Basketball Federation, in coordination with VnExpress and FPT Online Services Joint Stock Company, announced the organization of the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Basketball Friendship Tournament - Ziaja Cup. The tournament is part of the VnExpress youth basketball tournament event
The tournament marks a new organizational model, creating a space for sports exchange between basketball teams from leading high schools from two of the most dynamic cities in the country, while affirming the Organizing Committee's commitment to building and developing a prestigious and quality sports playground for high school students nationwide.
The tournament will take place continuously for 3 days from May 30 to June 1, 2025, at District 6 Gymnasium (212 Nguyen Van Luong, District 6, Ho Chi Minh City). The tournament has the participation of 16 teams, including 8 men's teams and 8 women's teams from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, competing in a knockout format.
In which, Hanoi is the representative of the first, second and third prizes at the VnExpress Youth Basketball - Cup Ziaja 2024 basketball tournament; Ho Chi Minh City sent the top 4 teams in the tournament with equivalent quality selected by the Department of Education and Training.
The tournament applies the 5x5 FIBA Basketball Law 2020 and has the following prize structure: The championship team receives VND 20 million, the runner -up team receives VND 15 million, the third -class colleague receives VND 10 million per team. Besides, the teams also received trophies, flags, medals and gifts from the companion unit. This prize structure is applied to both contents (men and women).
Previously, in September 2024, the VnExpress Youth Basketball 2024 in Hanoi had the participation of 24 top basketball teams from high schools in the region.
The tournament has become a quality sports playground attracting nearly 4,000 spectators to cheer live at the stadium and tens of thousands of followers per match on digital platforms, receiving high appreciation and support from education managers, parents, sports experts for the scale of the organization as well as professional quality.
