The information was announced by Vice Chairman of Phuc Tho Commune People's Committee Le Hong Hung on the morning of August 27. According to Mr. Hung, due to rising water from the Tich River, the Ta Tich dike area overflowed the dike surface, leading to the entire Doi O hamlet, Tich Giang 6 village being flooded and isolated.
The People's Committee of the commune mobilized 100 people including shock forces, militia, departments, branches and people of Doi O village to participate in reinforcing and preventing the overflow of the Ta Tich dike with a length of about 200m. However, by the night of August 27, the water level of the Tich River continued to rise, overflowing the dike surface, causing 86 households in Doi O hamlet, Tich Giang 6 village to be submerged in flooding and fall into a state of isolation.


That same night, the People's Committee of Phuc Tho commune directed the shock force to build soil to prevent vehicles from passing, put up warning signs, and at the same time organized a 24/7 checkpoint, advising people to absolutely not enter dangerous areas to prevent unfortunate incidents.
According to a quick report from the People's Committee of Phuc Tho commune, heavy rain in recent days has caused the total agricultural production area in the area to be flooded of about 458.2 hectares.
Of which, the deeply flooded area accounts for 346.5 hectares, including 304 hectares of rice, 20.5 hectares of vegetables, 17 hectares of fruit trees and 5 hectares of aquaculture. The most affected areas are concentrated in Tich Giang 159ha, Trach My Loc 80ha, Phung Thuong 40ha, Phuc Hoa 28ha, Long Xuyen 15ha and Phuc Tho town 24.5ha.
Currently, Phuc Tho commune has assigned staff to be on duty 24/24 hours, continuously updating the developments of storm No. 5 and weather conditions to promptly respond. At the same time, local authorities have increased inspections of canals and dike works to promptly detect and handle arising incidents, limiting damage to people.
