9 International Grandmasters attend the Quang Ninh Open International Chess Tournament

On the afternoon of June 24, the 3rd Quang Ninh International Chess Opening Tournament - 2026 opened at Quang Ninh Planning, Fair and Exhibition Palace, Ha Long ward.

The tournament was attended by 140 athletes from 21 countries and territories, including: Bangladesh, Canada, China, Czech Republic, UK, Russia, France, Hong Kong (China), Hungary, India, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Norway, Philippines, Singapore, Scotland, Slovakia, Thailand and Vietnam.

Including 9 International Grandmasters, 15 International Grandmasters, 15 FIDE Grandmasters and 9 World Grandmasters Reserves. Among the Vietnamese players participating in the tournament are: Dau Khuong Duy, Banh Gia Huy, Dinh Nho Kiet, Pham Tran Gia Phuc, Dang Hoang Son...

The tournament takes place from June 23 to July 7. 2026.

At the tournament, chess players will compete in 2 categories: standard chess and blitz chess. The first round of competition takes place from June 23-30, with a championship table for athletes with an international Elo rating of 20,000 or higher and a FIDE (FM) championship table for chess players with an Elo rating of 1,999 or lower.

The blitz chess event will be held on June 27 in an expanded format for all subjects. The second round of competition takes place from July 2-7, including the Grandmaster and International Masters categories, along with the FIDE Masters (FM) category.
