keeping the fire in front of home audiences
In the last 5 times the VTV Cup International Volleyball Tournament was held (from 2017 to present), the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team reached the finals 4 times. We won the championship in 2018, 2023 and were runner-up in 2019, 2024.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once discussed that competing in the above tournament always has its own professional value, but the pressure is not small because fans always hope that the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team will win the match to keep the championship trophy.
In fact, since the tournament took place (in 2004) until now, fans have always come packed into the stands of the athletes to cheer for the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team. Everyone was very excited to see their favorite players play live on the field. Of course, no fan wants their team to lose.
Vice President of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation - Mr. Tran Duc Phan - once discussed: "We have witnessed many years of the VTV Cup tournament attracting a large audience. This tournament brings the most enthusiastic fans to volleyball.
However, finding a suitable tournament host is not easy because we must understand the psychology of the audience and the expertise of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team. When there are guests of similar qualifications, the fighting matches are really attractive.
expertise is important
This year, the VTV Cup 2025 International Volleyball Tournament will take place in Vinh Phuc from June 28 and the Vietnam Volleyball Federation sent the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team and the Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team to participate.
The last time we had the two teams in the same tournament was in 2023. The main reason why the Vietnam Volleyball Federation sent the two teams to the tournament in 2023 is that we prepare international missions in parallel for each team, so there needs to be a competition to experience.
This year, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team will participate in the 2025 World Championship and the 33rd SEA Games while the Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team will participate in the 2025 U21 World Youth Championship. Therefore, the VTV Cup 2025 International Volleyball Tournament is one of the competition programs that helps accumulate expertise.
"We have been practicing recently. Young players have their own confidence, but they have to play together to be more effective. Fortunately, coinciding with the professional training time, the Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team was able to compete in the VTV Cup 2025 International Volleyball Tournament" - coach Nguyen Trong Linh of the Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team discussed.
At the VTV Cup 2025 International Volleyball Tournament, the organizing committee said that the Thai Youth Women's Volleyball Team will participate. This is an opportunity for the players of the Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team to compete against this opponent.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team affirmed: "For any tournament, we require players to focus and be ready for each match. No opponent is easy and we want to have the best experience, we must first prepare carefully." The Vietnam women's volleyball team is training 20 players while the Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team has 18 players.
These 38 players are considered the most professional players of Vietnamese women's volleyball at the moment. Each coaching staff can only register a maximum of 14 players for each specific tournament. Selecting an official player will not be easy because coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and coach Nguyen Trong Linh need to review and screen the players' expertise.
According to the preparation, the two coaching committees of each team will have an exchange of professional players for training. It is not excluded that some players of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team can join the Vietnam Youth Women's Volleyball Team to perfect their skills in important positions.
