Bayern Munich extends contract with Vincent Kompany

NGUYỄN ĐĂNG |

Bayern Munich has extended the contract of head coach Vincent Kompany until June 30, 2029.

Kompany's current contract with Bayern is expected to expire in the summer of 2027. But with the new move, the Belgian strategist will continue to stay with Bayern Munich for a long time.

Vincent Kompany, 39 years old this year, used to be the coach of Burnley in England. He was appointed to lead Bayern in the summer of 2024 to the skepticism of many people. However, he helped Bayern Munich win the Bundesliga in the 2024-2025 season.

At the beginning of this season, Kompany helped the German Super Cup champions. Currently, Bayern is the team with the highest form in Europe, with 11 wins since the beginning of the season, thereby leading the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League group stage.

I am very grateful, honored and want to thank FC Bayern for the trust and working environment they have given me since the first day. It felt like I had been here longer and understood the club well. This was a great experience. Let's continue to work hard and celebrate more success," Vincent Kompany shared on the club's homepage.

Herbert Hainer, Bayern's president, said the contract extension with Vincent Kompany is a strong confidence from the club after the great achievements that this strategist has achieved so far, and is also a clear sign of stability and sustainable development at FC Bayern. The team's leadership was delighted that Kompany's contract extension was soon carried out.

Meanwhile, Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of Bayern Munich shared: Vincent Kompany has brought joy to FC Bayern. Under his leadership, a team has truly developed, playing overwhelming and attractive football. The contract extension is also a good sign for our players. He has helped our players improve with his meticulousness.

Before signing Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich were said to have tried to convince Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Oliver Glasner and Ralf Rangnick but were all rejected by these candidates.
