Becamex HCMC Club has officially successfully recruited Portuguese foreign player Hugo Alves.

On August 1, Becamex HCMC announced that it had officially recruited Portuguese foreign player Hugo Alves. This is a contract that marks a remarkable change in the process of rebuilding the team's force before the 2025-2026 season.

Hugo Alves' full name is Hugo Miguel Ferreira Alves, born in 1999, 1m80 tall, and can play flexibly in the central midfielder and attacking midfielder positions. Before coming to Vietnam, the 26-year-old player had never played abroad. He grew up in the Portuguese football system and has played for many lower-level teams, including Vilaverdense - a club playing in the Portuguese third division.

In the 2024-2025 season, Hugo Alves played 26 matches for Vilaverdense, contributing 3 assists. This was the period when he maintained a stable performance and was highly appreciated for his ability to organize play and coordinate in the midfield area.

Notably, Vilaeverdense is the place where Huynh Nhu striker used to play in the club's shirt of this club - with full name Lank Vilaeverdense.

The recruitment of Hugo Alves shows the ambition to strengthen Becamex HCMC's midfield. Previously, coach Nguyen Anh Duc's team also had the signatures of Serbian center back Milos Zlatkovic, midfielder Nguyen Van Anh, goalkeeper Nguyen Van Cong, midfielder Phan Thanh Hau from Quang Nam, To Phuong Thinh and striker Cao Quoc Khanh.
