The Japan National Volleyball Championship starts on October 10th.
The organizers of the 2026/2027 Japan National Volleyball Championship have announced the preliminary schedule.
Accordingly, the group stage of the tournament is expected to be held from October 10, 2026 to March 28, 2027.
The league currently has 14 teams, divided into 2 regions: the West and the East.
Each team will play a maximum of 24 matches in the group stage in a round-robin format. Each team has 4 matches against each opponent through the rounds of the tournament.
After the group stage, the 8 teams with the best results will be slotted to the quarter-finals to compete in a knockout format to advance to the final to compete for the championship.
In which, each region of the Mekong Delta and the Southeast will have 3 representatives with the best results after the group stage to receive a ticket to the quarterfinals. Among the remaining 8 teams, the Organizing Committee will select 2 teams with the best scores to award tickets to the quarterfinals.
Each team in the Japanese National Championship is hired 3 non-Asian foreign players and 1 Asian foreign player.
In the upcoming 2026/2027 season in Japan, Vietnamese volleyball has 2 players participating: Tran Thi Bich Thuy (Okayama Seagulls team) and Tran Thi Thanh Thuy (Gumma Green Wings team).
In the 2025/2026 season, these 2 players also played football in Japan.
Thanh Thuy's professional plan
Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is currently an important player of the Vietnamese Women's Volleyball Team.
After she was informed that she had re-signed a contract with Gunma Green Wings (Japan), fans are eagerly waiting to see when Thanh Thuy will go abroad.
However, in the current plan, Thanh Thuy is wholeheartedly preparing professionally with the Vietnamese Women's Volleyball Team.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet trains the national team players until the end of the ASIAD 20 participation period, then will finish the task.
The ASIAD 20 women's (indoor) volleyball event will take place in Japan from September 16 to September 23.
This means that Thanh Thuy will train and play for the Vietnamese Women's Volleyball Team until the end of September 23. After this time, she will still be able to participate in the 2026/2027 Japan National Championship season.
Thanh Thuy's return to Japan means she will not participate in the 2nd round of the 2026 National Club Championship held in October in Vinh Long.
