In recent years, the student football movement at many universities across the country has developed strongly, becoming one of the sports activities attracting a large number of students to participate.
Not only stopping at the amateur playground, many student tournaments are gradually being organized in a more methodical direction, thereby contributing to improving school sports life and opening up more opportunities to discover talents for Vietnamese football.
From internal tournaments in the school to regional and national-scale playgrounds, student football is showing great attraction in student life.
Football movement spreading in universities
At Dong Thap University, football is maintained regularly through department-level and school-level sports festivals, attracting a large number of students to participate.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Van Thong - Rector of Dong Thap University, and also Chairman of Dong Thap University Football Club, the student football movement in the locality is developing positively thanks to the traditional foundation of Dong Thap football.
Mr. Thong said that at Dong Thap University, football is not just a sport but has become a school culture.
The movement is maintained throughout the year through department-level and school-level sports festivals, thereby discovering and selecting talented students to supplement the school's men's and women's football teams.

With the traditional foundation of Dong Thap football, the school football movement is currently spreading very positively. Football not only helps students train physically but also creates an environment for them to develop team spirit, discipline and competitive bravery," Mr. Thong shared.
In 2025, Dong Thap University hosted many tournaments such as the first Expanded Dong Thap University Student Football Tournament, the qualifying round of the National Student Football Tournament TV360 Cup and the qualifying round of the 4th Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament 2026 THACO Cup.
According to Mr. Thong, the tournaments are organized in a more professional direction, from organization, logistics to communication work, thereby attracting a large number of students, lecturers and fans to watch.
Facilities are invested in many universities
To maintain and develop the student football movement, many universities have focused on investing in stadium systems, training equipment as well as competition organization conditions.
At Dong Thap University, the school currently owns an artificial turf court meeting international competition standards, a high-quality lighting system and stands with a capacity of more than 2,000 spectators. This is a favorable condition to organize large-scale tournaments as well as create a good competition environment for students.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Van Thong, the demand for playing football among students is very large, so the maintenance and upgrading of facilities is always of concern to the school.
“We always prioritize investing in a schoolyard system to ensure safety and bring the best experiences to students. Although the demand for schoolyards is very large, the school still regularly maintains and upgrades training equipment to meet the maximum enthusiasm of students,” Mr. Thong said.

Not only in Dong Thap, many other universities are also gradually investing in facilities to serve the school sports movement. Ton Duc Thang University is considered one of the educational institutions with a modern sports field system, with many standard football fields serving training and organizing student tournaments.
At Nha Trang University, the football field system and sports facilities on campus are effectively exploited for student movement activities as well as school and regional tournaments.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Informatics also regularly organizes internal student football tournaments and exchanges between faculties, thereby contributing to creating a vibrant sports environment in the student community.
Investment in facilities at many universities has created an important foundation for the student football movement to develop stably and sustainably.
Increasing the attraction of the student football movement
From the reality at many universities, it can be seen that student football is becoming an important part of school life. Tournaments not only create sports playgrounds for students but also contribute to building a dynamic educational environment, connecting the community in schools.
In recent years, many national-scale student football tournaments have been organized, such as the Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament or the National Student Football Tournament, which have attracted the participation of dozens of universities. These tournaments are organized in regional qualifying and final round formats, helping to increase competitiveness as well as professional quality.

Besides the competitive factor, student football tournaments have also become cultural and sports events attracting a large number of students. The exciting cheering atmosphere in the stands, media activities on social networks or sideline programs have helped the tournaments become closer and more attractive to young people.
In the context of school sports increasingly being concerned, student football is having favorable conditions to continue to develop. When the movement is organized more methodically, combined with investment in facilities and organization, this playground not only contributes to improving the sports life of students but also creates a foundation for the long-term development of school football in Vietnam.
