On March 26, the coaching staff of the Ho Chi Minh City Police volleyball team announced that foreign player Martin Licek has officially arrived in Vietnam to prepare for round 1 of the 2026 National Club Championship.
Striker Martin Licek was preparing to play for the Ho Chi Minh City Police team in the 2nd round of the 2025 National Championship. However, due to some regulations of FIVB, this player could not play at the above time in Vietnam.
This is the 2nd time Martin Licek has returned to Vietnam but was registered in accordance with FIVB regulations to participate in the first round of the 2026 National Club Championship.
The Ho Chi Minh City Police team is training in Dong Anh (Hanoi). The team just finished 4th at the Hoa Lu Cup 2026 in Ninh Binh. Immediately after the tournament, coach Nguyen Van Hanh and his students moved back to Dong Anh (Hanoi) to continue training.
Player Martin Licek is a professional hitter in Europe and a Czech national team player. The player is 1m97 tall with a 3m45 attacking jump capability.
When present in Vietnam, Martin Licek entered training to get acquainted with the squad of Ho Chi Minh City Police. The coaching staff said that the hitter had come to Vietnam last year, so he was no longer unfamiliar.
The goal of the Ho Chi Minh City Police team is to achieve the best results this season, including ensuring professionalism in round 1 and round 2 of the tournament. Round 1 will take place from April 6 to April 19.
Last year, the Ho Chi Minh City Police team ranked 3rd in the 2025 National Championship. At that time, the head coach of the team was Mr. Duong Tan Vinh. This year, the head coach of the team is Mr. Nguyen Van Hanh.
