Improving the regime for coaches and athletes
On July 17, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference to review the work in the first 6 months of the year, key tasks for the last 6 months of 2025.
Focusing on completing documents to advise the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to promptly approve and implement many new regimes in the field of sports is one of the tasks reported by the Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of Vietnam - Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet.
The concern of Vietnamese sports professionals is that the regime for coaches and athletes (rewards, nutrition) must be appropriate and ensure their lives.
"We have consulted with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to draft a Decree to replace Decree No. 152/2018/ND-CP dated November 7, 2018 of the Government stipulating a number of regimes for sports coaches and athletes during the time of training and competition.
The regime for coaches and athletes will increase. In particular, there are some policies for Physical Education and Sports activities such as having doctors, nutritionists, and fitness experts for national sports teams. This is not currently regulated, Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet reported.
In fact, in the past nearly a month, the professional department of the Department of Physical Education and Sports has conducted a review to analyze and find suitable regimen options to ensure the lives of those who practice and compete in sports and included them in the Draft Decree to replace Decree No. 152/2018/ND-CP.
Currently, Decree No. 152/2018/ND-CP stipulates the regime levels for salary, nutrition, and tournament awards. For example, the head coach of the National Sports Team receives a salary of 505,000 VND/person/day while athletes of the National Sports Team have a salary (according to the actual practice day) of 270,000 VND/person/day.
Currently, a number of universities have conducted training programs in sports medicine. After the replacement Decree is approved and issued, the sports industry will work with the Ministry of Home Affairs to determine the job position and the position of civil servants for these positions, said Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet.

Removing bottlenecks in Federation and Association management
According to Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, in July 2025, the Department of Physical Education and Sports will soon complete the Draft Circular amending Circular No. 01/2021/TT-BVHTTDL dated February 3, 2021 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stipulating a number of measures to perform the function of state management of Physical Education and Sports for national sports associations.
The Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports said: Enterprises operating in the field of sports and participating in tournaments, especially amateur and professional tournaments, still have problems.
The Department of Physical Education and Sports is drafting a Draft to amend Circular 01 and amend and supplement Circular No. 05/2021/TTBVHTTDL dated June 25, 2021 regulating standards and norms for sports training and competition equipment for athletes and coaches of national teams".
Since its application, Circular 01 has specifically regulated the development and implementation of policies, programs and plans for the development of Physical Education and Sports; management of sports tournament organization; establishment of national sports delegations and sports teams participating in sports events, international sports tournaments and management of athletes, coaches, sports referees...
Solving problems with regulations on the operation and management of Sports Federations and Associations, high-performance sports will help sports tournaments take place more effectively.
At the same time, stipulating standards and norms for changing and updating sports training and competition equipment to suit actual competition practice requirements will be a standard to help localities have criteria for developing and promulgating standards for sports at their units.
