FIFA President expresses condolences for the passing of referee Tran Dinh Thinh

FIFA President Gianni Infantino sent a letter of deep condolences to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for the sudden passing of referee Tran Dinh Thinh.

In the letter, the FIFA President wrote: A former FIFA referee - who officiated many major matches in the V.League. He is always highly appreciated for his dedication, standards and sense of responsibility. His contributions and journey, both on and off the pitch, will never be forgotten and he will always be remembered by everyone."

Mr. Gianni Infantino also sent his condolences to VFF, family, friends and relatives of referee Tran Dinh Thinh, emphasizing that this departure is a loss not only to Vietnamese football but also to the international football community.

Referee Tran Dinh Thinh (born in 1982, in Dong Nai) is one of the experienced referees of Vietnamese football. He used to wear the FIFA referee jersey and was assigned to officiate important matches in the V.League many times.

His career has been recognized with prestigious titles such as "Coi Dong" in the 2023-2024 season and "Coi bac" in the 2024-2025 season. With an honest working style, courage and professionalism, he received great respect from experts, colleagues and fans.

The sudden passing of Mr. Tran Dinh Thinh on August 4, after fainting during the fitness test for the referee and professional referee assistant, left a deep regret. This is not only the pain of family and relatives, but also a great loss for Vietnamese football.
